Derek joined Runway Growth Capital in June 2022 as a Vice Chairman and Senior Advisor.

Prior to joining Runway, he was Managing Director and Head of Capital Development for EIG Global Energy Partners where he was a member of the firm’s Executive Committee, overseeing investor relations, fundraising, co-investments, and product development. Prior to joining EIG in 2011, he was a Partner and Head of Business Development for FTV Capital. Derek was a founder, member of the Executive Committee and Head of Private Equity for Thomas Weisel Partners. He was also a Partner and Head of Private Equity for Montgomery Securities.

Derek holds a B.A. from Pomona College, a J.D. from the Northwestern University School of Law and completed the Executive Program at the Stanford University Graduate of Business.
